Considering the reaming Oxfam went through after my last post on a natural disaster in the Philippines, how about Heifer instead? Similar to Oxfam, Heifer works with livestock (hence the name), and I haven't seen Heifer shredded in the press yet.
There are, of course, Muslim charitable organizations (Mindanao) with people who actually want to help. However, like it or not, there is a risk of donations going to those who don't. Yay research. The Philippines is part of the Pacific chain of volcanoes known as the Ring of Fire. Geological events are going to be relatively common, and it's going to be pointlessly repetitive to say 'not again.' Volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, they're part of the natural world. Raging at them and at their effects when they're caused by cracks in the earth is ineffective. Too bad I can't say the same about humans.
